  Just to clear a few things up..... After reading the reviews I was hesitant to even bother with the place, but options were limited and the kids were hungry, we gave it a cracked out of desperation. The couple who own the joint were fantastic! The wife takes orders and prepares the food and they both share the cooking detail. On first glance the wife does apear rather inhospitable, maybe 50 yrs of life has just hardened her appearance and expression, not all that appealing, but it does not reflect her attitude at all!! Just give her a chance. It is true that you may have to repeat yourself, this is due to her poor hearing, not ignorance. The couple are also foreign and although their English is great a fast talking aussie may be a little hard too keep up with. Sorry for the long review, but considering the lack of traffic through the town since the fwy went in a decade or so ago, I just though someone should right some wrongs on their review's, the town needs all the help it can get. They were more than hospitable and I recommend you give them a go.

  Parked out front. First impressions dulled as my girlfriend and I saw the state of the rotting building labeled "fish n chips". I'm usually open for these small, Oceanside family owned "restaurants" so nonetheless we decided to go in and glance the menu. The menu seemed well priced and there was a good amount of variety. However, there was no printed price for the 'Fish n Chip Basket' which was the meal I had planned on purchasing. I decided to order anyway... Mistake no.1 I proceeded to place my order... The service was less then mediocre. I ordered the Fish n Chip Basket as well as three calamari rings and a medium Coke. Firstly, I assumed the pricing would be standard, however, to my surprise it cost me quite alot more than expected... I assumed misscommunication had been made but her golden tooth and Grimsby stare had be paralysed and I paid anyway. I got over the clear scam I had indeed fallen for and my girlfriend and I went next door to get Strawberry Oak (two for Seven dollers, bargain). After some time (roughly 10mins), I received my meal and we drove home. I sneaked a couple chippy's from the box and to our surprise, they tasted really good. I also ate one of the calamari which also held up to the quality of the chips. Overall, the chips and camalari were solid in taste, my only small issue would be the over salting of the chips which may cause parched lips, especially due to how small the "medium" Coke was... As for the flathead (battered), that was mistake no.2... The flathead at first was really tasty... but as I dove further into the cloud white innerds and sweet lemon coated batter, I found out, to my nightmare, that the fish hadn't been deboned.! I pulled out the transparent bone from my mouth and to my horror, hundreds if not thousands poked out from within the fish, starring at me in disdain. I also pulled out a scale that had been left inside which was equally disgusting. I would not recommend you order the fish from here, especially if you are feeding your young children who wouldn't think twice in removing the bones let alone check for them. In conclusion, the service was below average as was the meal, I would not reccomend this place unless your desperate for gutterswamp fish n chips in a town that reminds you of silent hill, like I was at the time.   Incredibly bad service, lady was so angry I was scared to order. I made a mistake in my order and she tore up the order in disgust. Batter on the fish is disgusting. Only redeeming feature was the delicious chips.

  Had to wait 30 minutes to get severed on a quiet night. After asking several times. Food isn't the best anymore. Only decent thing about this place is the old owners left.
